Arc & Anchor is Marines Alvarez and Nicole Sweeney, a creative operations team supporting busy creatives behind the scenes.
Marines Alvarez is a communications strategist, HR professional, and content creator with 13 years of experience in people operations and 16 years of experience producing written and visual content across platforms. (If there’s a new social media site, she’s trying it.)
She has built a career at the intersection of structure and creativity, bringing clarity, organization, and insight to everything from ghostwriting to editorial workflows to foundational business documentation, like handbooks, policies, and internal guidelines.
With a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Florida, Marines has worked as a newspaper editor, copywriter, translator, freelance dev editor, executive assistant, and human resources director.
A lifelong reader and reviewer, she’s known for her critical curiosity, attention to detail, ability to identify patterns and problems, and her laugh. You can hear it from three rooms away.
Nicole Sweeney is a creative strategist and Executive Producer with over 14 years of professional experience in mission driven digital media and arts, as well as decades of combined experience in online creator communities. She’s chronically online but in a super professional way.
She has spent the past decade working with the best and brightest science communicators on the internet, serving as the Executive Producer of shows like SciShow, PBS Eons, Journey to the Microcosmos, Bizarre Beasts, and more. She’s also been a Producer, Host, Video Editor, Writer, across other popular Complexly brands like Crash Course. She’s worked with teams and partners of all sizes to create content that is fun, impactful, and sustainable.
Previously she has worked with a range of institutions, from universities to career websites, helping them connect their work with more people. Her work has a consistent throughline of helping organizations drive impact-focused growth by balancing creativity with strategy.
A fellow lifelong reader and media junkie, she’s known for her enthusiasm, problem solving, deep cuts, and sewing all her own clothes. (Yes, most of them do have pockets.)
We’ve been working together since 2011, first launching an entertainment website and later co-hosting and producing two podcasts. We’re also best friends who love [travel, museums, sitting on each other’s couches, watching movies or TV, and analyzing them like it’s our job—because sometimes, it is.
We bring that same collaborative energy and dual perspective to Arc & Anchor. With a wide range of skills and years of shared experience, we’re here to help you stay consistent, organized, and free to focus on the work you really love while we take care of the rest.
